Band Program

Program Objective
The Woodlawn Arts Academy Band Program was designed to provide students from various parochial and home school programs the opportunity to experience instrumental music at variant group and individual levels. This band program will follow National and State Standards. Through the instruction of our highly trained staff, students will learn knowledge of music notation and performance, while discovering their individual music talents and developing a strong appreciation for the Fine Arts. This will be a year long program with group ensemble meeting after school at Woodlawn Arts Academy at the designated time listed below and individual/group lessons at each school during the school day. Our program can incorporate string players if requested. All participants will be asked to perform two concerts a year. Participants will be charged an annual fee and will be responsible for their own instruments and supplies.

Middle School Band
Beginning Band students will need to audition with Mrs. Hulteen and Mrs. Deter on Friday, October 1st or Friday, October 8th from 3:30pm-5:00pm at Woodlawn Arts Academy to select an instrument and to sign up. Middle School Ensemble Band students will rehearse every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:15pm-4pm in room 200 at Woodlawn Arts Academy and will begin on Thursday, October 14th. We realize students are coming right from school and may occasionally be tardy.

High School Concert Band
High School Concert band currently rehearses on "A" days from 8:00am-9:00am (rehearsal time will switch to afternoons in January of 2011). Rehearsals are currently being held at Newman Catholic High School in the music room. As of January of 2011, rehearsals will be held at Woodlawn Arts Academy during 4th period. Additional rehearsals may be added during homeroom and also take place at Woodlawn Arts Academy when required. Sufficient notification will be given to students as well as parents well in advance.
